Melissa joined Schmidt Design Group after graduating California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. While there, she earned her degree in Landscape Architecture with a minor in Regenerative Studies focusing on critical analysis of ecological and social systems and the potential for regeneration through community involvement and natural processes. Melissa is a San Diego native, but feels her knowledge and passion grows most through her travels to various urban and natural environments. Her background includes an emphasis on ecological design, restoration ecology and horticulture founded in a deep connection with plants and wildlife. She strives to weave natural and native environments into urban landscapes.
