Project Info
Schmidt Design Group, Inc. provided master planning, final construction drawings and construction administration services for this 50-acre park. The scope of work included development of conceptual design alternatives, meetings with a steering committee (including soccer, local historic and equestrian groups, as well as surrounding neighbors), community workshops and public presentations. Because of stratified interest groups for this park, Glen Schmidt, FASLA met with each group individually to better understand their issues and to develop a rapport with concerned members. Taking into consideration and recognizing each of the special interest group’s concerns allowed the public meetings to be civil and productive. Programming for this park included the development of a 19-acre open turf field, multiple tot lots, enhancement of existing equestrian activities, extension of the City trail system, renovation of an existing building, concessions, a caretaker’s facility, the placement of historic buildings, picnic groves, restroom buildings, and a pond located at the southern portion of the site. The soccer sports facility opened in 2006.
