Project Info
Schmidt Design Group, in conjunction with SITE Design Group, designed a custom, innovative, and multi-generational concrete skate park within the existing Linda Vista Community Park. The skate park is nestled in a valley between the existing sloping hillsides, creating prominent viewing areas overlooking the skate park. The signature bridge element, which bisects the park to maintain pedestrian and vehicular access to the main park circulation path, creates a unique viewing vantage point for the various signature park elements. The park includes skate features such as a custom full pipe with snake run and multiple extensions and banks, several types of bowls from beginner to professional, various stair and railing combinations from 2 to 10 stairs, ledges, benches, and a unique drainage ditch feature specifically created for the Linda Vista skate community.
The surrounding open space is prominent throughout the skate park with existing mature trees being preserved and natural vegetated swales and basins incorporated into the park to treat the stormwater generated from the new impervious areas. ADA accessible walkways connect the skate park to existing park amenities.
