Project Info
The County Administration Center Waterfront Park will open up views and access to the San Diego Bay by converting the large eight-acre parking lots north and south of the Administration Center into a large community and regional open-space amenity. The park will include large civic greens, a variety of gardens, a children’s play area, intimate garden areas and an expansive interactive fountain. Parking will be provided in a new underground parking garage off of Ash Street. The park will become a civic meeting space accommodating special events and festivals, farmers’ markets, day and nighttime urban needs and family recreation. Sensitivity to the existing historic County Administration Building is an important aspect of the project. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. design-build team is the prime on the project. Hargreaves Associates developed the bridging documents and Schmidt Design Group, Inc. is creating the final construction documents and will be the landscape architect of record. The public restroom on the site is anticipated to be LEED certified Gold.
