Project Info
From a barren brownfield quarry Civita continues to grow and emerge as a community with a genuine green heart. Creekside Park is a new important addition to the treasured parks of Civita. The 1.3-acre linear park contains a large community-wide water quality treatment basin taking up approximately half of the land area. The key design solutions included elevated boardwalks that extend over sloped areas to maximize usable area and to create the effect that visitors are perched and floating over the basin. The floating boardwalks are configured in sweeping forms that “land” on two flat pad areas utilized for an off-leash dog park, a picnic and children’s play plaza, an off-leash dog park, artful solutions, and interpretive education. The park is a clear demonstration that even the most challenging and confining sites can be transformed into valuable, memorable, elegant open spaces, making significant contributions to their community.
