Pacific Beach Cleanup
Summer is drawing near and the weather is heating up. Perfect time to hit the beach! Here at Schmidt Design Group, Inc., we all understand the importance of giving back to mother nature while working to create more sustainable designs. In coherence to the upcoming season, this past weekend our office completed a beach cleanup at Pacific Beach with the San Diego Coastkeeper organization. On that early morning the team learned about the environmental harms of beach waste, data collecting, and the ways to prevent marine litter. Our volunteers got a full dose of sand and sun while making a community impact.
Along with the team members and thanks to our supporting friends and family, the beach cleanup was a success. Participants from Schmidt Design Group removed 73 pounds of trash, from Pacific Beach to the end of Pacific Beach Drive. Debris included 82 bottle caps, 15 aluminum cans, 177 pieces of paper, 424 cigarette buds, and much more. Special shout out to San Diego Coastkeeper who provided assistance with reusable buckets, pick-up sticks, and gloves.
