Merge Announcement – Schmidt Design Group, Studio East
We are thrilled to announce Tavella Design Group has merged with Schmidt Design Group, Inc. Thomas Tavella, FASLA, PLA, LEED AP will lead the new East Coast studio for the firm. Tom brings over 30 years of experience managing complex projects with an emphasis on community-centric, sustainable interventions. Award-winning works by Tavella Design Group include the Burton Family Football Complex and Mark R. Shenkman Training Center at the University of Connecticut, Festival Pier in Rhode Island, and Sherwood Island State Park in Connecticut.
Tom’s leadership and dedication to the profession includes serving as the 2013 National President of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He continues to be an active advocate and educator sharing his knowledge of landscape architecture and sustainable design by teaching at the New York Botanical Gardens, Southern Connecticut State University, University of Connecticut, and University of Massachusetts.
