Civita Park Featured in ASLA’s Landscape Architecture Magazine – October Issue!
The article highlights one of the many features that makes Civita Park such a unique and beloved space: the park’s innovative and integrated approach to stormwater management. The 14.3-acre community park captures stormwater from the 230-acre Civita community as well as the adjacent neighborhoods to the north and carries it down 165-feet of grade change through Civita Falls and Civita Creek, and treats it prior to reaching the San Diego River.
“This is green infrastructure for a changing, volatile climate,” says JT Barr, PLA, ASLA, the president and managing partner of Schmidt Design Group. “The strategy was to make water treatment an integral part of the park experience, not a highly engineered and rigid system.”
