A Vision for Qualcomm Stadium

The potential redevelopment of the Qualcomm Stadium has been a hot topic in San Diego this year, and like everyone else Schmidt Design Group has been discussing possible opportunities at the site. We teamed up with the San Diego River Park Foundation for a visioning exercise to explore open space options should redevelopment become a reality. Our combined vision is a 65-acre park that reclaims the Mission Valley Watershed for recreation purposes and preserves the river’s natural habitat. Our concept for the park emphasizes the San Diego River and the creeks that support it. Visitors could attend concerts, play sports, dine, garden, exercise or just relax in a natural setting surrounded by the sights and sounds of local wildlife. The existing trolley stop would be enhanced with an elevated pedestrian bridge offering dramatic vistas of the park, surrounding community, and the San Diego River. If you want to join the conversation about this important open space project please contact us or check out the San Diego River Park Foundation’s website at http://sandiegoriver.org/stadium.html
